this game might be neat with all the super pieces, however, it gets boring with all the displacers so i have my own super pieces, Imperial lion: moves as queen or lion. Stampede: moves as zebrarider, camerider, or knightrider, teaching king: moves as queen or 3-step lion: can make three consecutive king moves can jump over occupied squares when doing this. Dreagon moves as queen to empty squares one square moves take all adjacent enemy pieces destroyer: moves rook cannon or quang trung rook. imperial dragon: moves as king, ski queen (as queen but must go at least two squares may jump first and continue in same direction though) or quang trung rook. pushme pullyu moves as queen but takes by approach and withdrawal. Longleaper as queen but captures as in draughts. Bomber as queen but captures by landing just beyond pieces it may jump a continuous line of enemy pieces and capture all in that line cannot jump unconnected enemy pieces the reverse of the style of jumping the longleaper uses to capture. Though i admire your idea, try more pieces that can capture in different ways.

the user submitted work thing is great but however i have an idea in which you could enter a game idea and then other users could review it and make suggestions, but not changes this would make the site quicker maybe you could have an idea where someone enters a game idea and others enter more ideas for that game so it would multiple authors and everyone who was a contributor could help with the game.

fortress chess sounds good 100x100 sounds retarded, how will you pl,ay it
you will need a gigantic game courier preset or a bike (or segway) to get
from one end of the board to the other

this game looks fun but how about merging the wazirs, ferzes, alfils, and dabbabaa into a squire? or maybe just having murray lions instead?

the elephant alfil plus dabbaba is actually 1/4 bound. and isn't the zebra and antelope weaker than the knight? they are more akward. how about a hopper category? lot's of these pieces come from works of lim ther peng or adrian king

the brigadier has more in common with optima's dauphin than optima's general atually the brigadier is the same as optima's dauphin

this is an interesting break from the same ol, amazon, this should be of the sam value and would be a intersting to see fighting the amazon what would be even cooler would be a queen plus korean lion

Immobilizer. Pieces standing near an immobilizer may not move.[All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]
Andy Maxson wrote on Thu, Feb 22, 2007 08:22 PM UTC:Good ★★★★
this piece looks intersting but has little mobility when immobilizing I
have invented a piece,
the basilisk which moves as a queen cannot capture, but immobilizes
pieces a knight's move away.

Separate Realms. Pieces capture like normal FIDE pieces, but have limited moves that only take them to part of the board when not capturing. (8x8, Cells: 64) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]
Andy Maxson wrote on Thu, Feb 22, 2007 08:06 PM UTC:Good ★★★★
how about an alternate rook which moves sideways as a dabbaba rider and forwards and backwards as a rook and an alternate bishop that moves as an alfilrider parralel to the long diagonal and as a bishop parrallel to the short diagonal? these bout hav interesting types of colorboundness as the rook cannot reach adjacent files and the bishop cannot reach adjacent same colored diagonals. these pieces would capture as there orthochess counterparts

Centennial Chess. 10x10 Variant that adds Camels, Stewards, Rotating Spearmen and Murray Lions to the standard mix. (10x10, Cells: 100) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]
Andy Maxson wrote on Wed, Feb 21, 2007 05:27 AM UTC:Good ★★★★
This game looks really interesting along with millenial chess I have actually thought of a game like this on ten by ten board with the orthochess setup pused one rank forwards so the pawns would not move differntly and adding camels. stewards, quang trung rooks and nonroyal kings

Wormhole Chess. When a piece leaves a square, it `folds' together. (8x8, Cells: 64) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

What I meant was isn't your rook substitute as strong as your queen substitute?

This game looks interesting but isnt the queen as strong as the rooks?

Leap Chess. Game with mandatory captures and other Checkers-like elements on a board of 44 squares. (6x8, Cells: 44) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

I am actually working on a variant like this called leapers chess which replaces rooks with wooden rooks, bishops with wooden bishops, and the queen with a centaur which moves as a nonroyal king or as a knight. I am actually writing an entry for it right now!

HyperModern Shatranj. Missing description (8x8, Cells: 64) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

Where i got the panther name was the exotic pieces applet. I like the
waffle beacause
it is not colorbound so the game flows quicklier. This game might actually
be on par with chess it is just a little to weak so maybe if there was an
added weak piece it could battle chess. But anyway shatranj variants are
really interesting to me

Andy Maxson wrote on Tue, Feb 20, 2007 05:01 PM UTC:Excellent ★★★★★
The elephant can reach half the squares on the board. how about replacing elephants with waffles an the sliding general with a panther which moves 1 or two squares in any direction but cannot jump
