Also see here: http://www.chess.com/groups/view/capture-the-king

And here's a new rule:

After one side captures the opposing king, if the other side can immediately also capture the opposing king, then the game is a draw.

Example:

e2-e4 e7-e5
f2-f4 f7-f5
d1-h5 d8-h4
h5xe8 h4xe1 draw!

You technicaly made stalemate win, expect for game, where all pieces can be blocked at the same time. By the way, what about these games? I think, it's logical to make these situations draw. (these are mostly games with static king or king, wich can move only by swapping position with friendly piece)

The idea for this variant came from attempting to solve a problem in Mirror
Chess by allowing the King to move into check.

The concept of 'check' being so fundamental to modern chess, it is
interesting to see that in fact, we can do perfectly well without it...

I was somewhat reluctant to post this variant, because it is so simple that it's hard to believe no one else has done this. However, I didn't find this game onsite after an admittedly brief check. So, unless someone can demonstrate precedence, Mr. Gardiner claims this modest variant. And before anyone says this is too modest a variant, I would like to point out that this is one of the very few 'variants' a large number of chessplayers would actually play. Grin, so he's ahead of most of us right there!
