Chess Poker. Like poker, but players are dealt a hand of pieces instead of cards.[All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

Thanks for the feedback! I invented this game independently from the Choker in the link. So I may have to change the name...

I intended this game to be about halfway between chess and poker.

Thanks for the link - this is definitely a different game.  And given that Choker appears to be a registered trademark, that would be another problem with this submission.

Assuming this is the game described at https://chokergame.com/rules/, I think it fits the bill; it is a chess game with a vying phase, or a vying game with the traditional "showdown" replaced with a game of chess. (Of course, since I am not an editor, I cannot see how well or poorly the original author has written the article. I may produce my own write-up; it is an interesting game, and I think it deserves a place on this site.)

I could go either way on this but it does seem far more of a poker game than a chess game.  Personally, I would not include it.

I agree that this is really very far out on the chess variant spectrum.  I don't think I'd say it's more a poker variant than a chess variant though.  I tend to err on the side of inclusiveness; Greg?

Actually, I think it would be a better game with more poker elements; a matching pair/triple, or flush/straight (but only three cards) should confer some bonus in the chess phase?

And, if the game is to stay, the page needs a fair bit of formatting work.

This is a Poker variant, not a Chess variant. This is not the site for this game.
