You probably saw my edits. There was no mention of NOBR except what I added to the script, but it didn't show up when I examined the JavaScript output. So I have reverted it to what it originally was.

I made a test page with some of the JavaScript output, and surrounding a diagram with either
or and will work. My edits to the script didn't show up. So maybe I edited it in the wrong place, but Charles can fix the display of his diagrams by surrounding his JavaScript code as I just mentioned.

Hmm, the ffen2diag tool already uses nobr tags. That's deprecated now, but it should still work to prevent breaking the images into new lines...?

The diagrams are generated by the ffen2diag tool; can we just edit that script to prevent small windows from breaking a row of squares? (I like the two columns when the screen has space to display them; if we can just prevent line breaks within a row, then it should automatically move the boards into a single column when the screen is too small, right?)

This page doesn't work right on a cell phone. The ranks in the diagrams are getting broken up, so that the diagrams don't look the same as they do on a desktop. I would recommend using a single image for each diagram, so that it has no parts that can get broken up, or to put everything into a single column, so that each diagram might at least have enough space to display properly.

I think your descriptions for the Vicerine and Duchess are the wrong way round...
