I had changed some constant values from using http to using https, and this messed up with drawing images of boards, because str_replace failed to change URLs to file paths, and it couldn't find the graphics it needed. Maybe it had other effects too. I changed the constants back, and the problem seems to have gone away.
I'm looking into it now. I'm not sure what is going on, but it does seem more general than particular logs.
UPDATE: it is not just that log, so the problem is more general. Also very strange, the server is clearly not crashing, but I can no longer view it from the same computer. It acts like the site is off-line, but if I go to another computer it is working fine. If I try to open a game log, though, that computer will then no longer see the CVP. Go to a third computer and it's fine ...
Don't know if this is caused by all game logs or just some of them. I have made some moves today successfully. This must have something to do with the sub-domain changes in progress. Let me know if I can help with any testing.
I think there is a serious issue with the Victorian Chess preset used with this log:
http://play.chessvariants.com/pbm/play.php?game=Victorian+Chess&log=sxg-cvgameroom-2018-233-587
Whenever I try to open the log to make my move it seems to crash the server. Maybe there is an infinite loop. I would try to troubleshoot but I'm not certain how to investigate the log without trying to open it and possibly crashing the server... (The URL above is deliberately not a hyperlink because I don't want anyone to click on it.)
@sxg, did you create or edit this preset or is this the one Fergus created?
If you refer to Shatranji, my move is not illegal. Why do you think it is?
how in the party to abolish the enemy's illegal course?
Another thing I did yesterday was enable Rocket Loader™ on Cloudflare. Once I disabled this, the problem stopped. So, I guess I will keep it disabled for now. I'll try it again when the changes I'm trying to make are finished.
I have also confirmed that it is being done by JavaScript. When I disabled JavaScript, it stopped.
Here is what I know so far. It is unrelated to using HTTPS. I have been having the same problem with http://www.chessvariants.com/play/pbm/play.php
. It does not appear to be anything in the footer. I temporarily commented out the footer, and it still happened. I also temporarily commented out the header, and it still happened. Whether it happens seems to depend on which form shows up. It is skipping down the page for the View and Menu forms, though not for other forms I've tested. It is probably from some change I made yesterday while preparing to switch to HTTPS, though I'm not sure what could be doing this.
I was noticing the same thing last night. I'm in the process of converting the site from HTTP to HTTPS, and it seems to be related to that, but I don't know what's happening. Notice whether this happens only when the page is an HTTPS one or whether it is also happening for HTTP pages.
Something has changed - now whenever I complete a move on GC, the result page is scrolled all the way to the bottom. This happens on PC or mobile. It's really annoying on the phone because I have to scroll back up quite a way to get to the "your logs" button.
Can you find out on this site there is a rating system? Is rating points credited?
Thank you very much! I did everything as you said! The language was delivered without translation - English. Everything worked out. Thank you very much. I am very grateful
After reviewing a video that Сергей Бугаевский sent me, it looks like the problem is that Google Translate is translating the page into Russian, this is changing the values of the buttons, and Game Courier is receiving values that it doesn't recognize. Looking at where it prints the value of $submit when the page loads, I see that it did indeed get translated into Russian. My recommendation for now is to click on buttons only in English.
A more long-term solution would be for me to localize Game Courier. A more short-term one would be to prevent translation or to give an error message when the value of $submit is not recognized.
I got some images from you through facebook, but only one was large enough to read, and that wasn't enough to diagnose the problem. A screencast, which is what I originally asked for, is not the same thing as a screenshot. A screencast is a movie of what you are doing on your computer screen. There are many programs that will do this. The software I use and recommend for this is FlashBack Express, which is the free alternative to FlashBack Pro. Of course, maybe there is a Russian program that I don't even know about that would be better for you to use.
There is no doubt that this case is totally atypical and very difficult to solve!
Why do not you try to create another account here in Game Courier with a different username and email? You could also create an email account in Yahoo.
I took the whites, and then an error occurred and it is written that I took the black ones
I took the white side, but it turned out that I was accepting the black ones. On your call
You do not need to have an account there to send an email to someone who does have an account.
I'm waiting for you to accept the invitation for playing Chess that sent you almost two hours ago and make your first move.
There's really little I can do to help you, so let's wait for Fergus' response.
Yahoo I do not know what it is. there I am not registered
OK, then let's wait for his answer. Why did not you send it to his yahoo account?
I mailed a photo of my party on facebook as requested.
Did you already send Fergus the screencast of what you are doing to his yahoo email he requested?
I will send you another invitation for playing Chess and again please choose white side and try to make your first move.

Shatranji, my move is not illegal
