Motif Shogi Pieces
Here is a set of Shogi pieces made mainly from Armando Marroquin's Chess Motif font for Chess pieces. Additional pieces, which are the Lance and the two Generals, were designed by Fergus Duniho. The Lance is based on the shape of a oneway sign. The Gold and Silver Generals are based on the alchemical symbols for gold and silver, which are the sun and moon symbols from astrology. Think of a golden sun and a silvery moon. I seem to have lost any records of which types of wood were used to design the pieces, but from looking at the wood samples I have on my computer, I think I used a white oak background for all pieces, maple for the regular pieces, and purple wood for the promoted pieces.
You may use these images noncommercially so long as you give due credit to Armando Marroquin and Fergus Duniho.
