Would you like this as a Variant[Subject Thread] [Add Response]

I am thinking of designing a variant that has super pawns.  A pawn that goes forward 1 , and can capture in the forward direction.  It can also move sideways and capture sideways.  The diagonals are gone.  Would the players here like that?  My first thought was to put that on a Shogi board.

Hello,

First, this is the grammar Nazi in me, but you forgot an "?".

You have to gave me more information about the game. The pawn you describe is the Korean chess pawn, but I doubt your idea is to do something similar to Korean chess :)!

I did not know there were existing pawns like that.  I don't think I can add the "?" now, so you will have to imagine it.  I was thinking of doing this as a variant of Pocket Shogi Plus.  As a new person of Shogi, it sort of bothers me how all the pawns are subject to attack so easily.  That really is not true, but part of my chess instinct thinks it is.  Having a side movement would enable pawn chains.  Part of me thinks that is not needed, and another part is thinking what would that be like.

I don't think it would work as dropping pawn barrages ahead of your king would make head on attacks impossible.
