>> How do we propose graphics for inclusion in the set? I have been modifying some of the alfaerie graphics for some of the diagrams I have made on my computer, and I think they could be useful.

Please email them to me, and I will consider them for the next expansion set! Just click on my name and mail to the displayed email address. Thanks!

re: emailing all cvp members

I do have a list, and would be willing to send out an email (probably
emails, since I'd have to break it up into sections). I try not to send
emails out very often, but am willing to do so in this case. Just let me
know what you'd like to be in the email. Thanks!

Looks like it may be that the cause is the .htaccess file. I will look
into it.

I would do it, but I suspect the skill level required to create vector-graphic versions of the bitmaps would be greater than my own skill level in that area (not to mention the time and energy required). I would be very pleased if someone who does have the necessary skill level and inclination, time and energy, would create a true-type font for Alfaerie.

Should be fixed now. There is currently no way for users to rename a
thread. If you want one renamed, let me know and I can make the change.

We are going to be changing hosting services, so please be prepared for an
interruption of activities on this site. We will be suspending activities
on this site starting Monday, December 22, 2008 at 10am EST. Hopefully, a
few hours later, the site will be active again under a new hosting
service. Thanks for your continuing patience! Best, David Howe

David Howe wrote on Sun, Jan 18, 2009 03:32 PM UTC:
Adrian, you should be able to upload the new zip file and overwrite the old zip file (ie. give the zip file the same name as the old one). Let me know if that doesn't work.

David -- what error are you getting? I just uploaded an image and edited the contents of my sample game page, and didn't get any errors. Please make sure you are using the links with the text:

'If you are the author of this page, your may edit index information or edit the contents of this page. You may also, if your page uses graphics, upload files.'

Thanks!

David Howe wrote on Wed, Feb 11, 2009 01:11 PM UTC:
When you save the index information, it does bring you to the edit content page, but it really has saved the index information. I just tried it. If it still isn't working, just let me know what index information you'd like to change and I'll test it with that information. Thanks!

Hi Jean-Louis and Yu Ren Dong, I will have some time in the coming week to work on these two pages (The Game of Three Friends and The Game of Three Kingdoms). I will make your recommended changes, since you both are knowledgeable in this area. Thanks for your corrections.

Yu Ren Dong,

Could you provide romanized titles for some of the books you mentioned. I found the ones for which you gave an ISBN, but for the others, I cannot read their titles or authors because the characters aren't displaying properly. Many thanks!

Hi Mats, you are not being ignored. I process email once a week (on
Mondays), so I hadn't read your email yet. I have deleted the external
link for Regiment Random Chess, so you can try again. Sorry for the buggy
software and slow response time. Please remember, this site is all
volunteer driven, so 'customer service' sometimes lapses a bit.

Mats, I just created a link item and did not experience any problem. Could
you email me step-by-step details on what you did? Thanks!

One of our loyal readers has written to tell us that there is a shareware (Windows) version of this game available at:

http://www.vector.co.jp/soft/dl/win95/game/se094801.html

It is all in Japanese however.

Click on the download link (ƒ_ƒEƒ“ƒ[ƒh) for the game.

To play against the computer, choose the second option from the first menu.

It's always nice to hear John William Brown's name mentioned. He is a true innovator and I highly recommend his book Meta-Chess to any chess variant designer. Adjectives for the book: well thought out, imaginative, innovative, and methodical! One of these days I'm going to get my copy of Meta-Chess bound as a hardcover (it is currently comb-bound).

On that note, I will also say that I do not know if and when his updated edition of Meta-Chess is coming out. Anyone out there know?

Sorry about the delays Mats. I am back in school and things are very busy
for me. I will try to get to this in the next few days. Sorry it's so
frustrating for you. Keep in mind, this site does not have any paid staff.
Just volunteers.
