The Battle Templar was called a FAD by Ralph Betza and used in his Colorbound Clobberers. The name is made up of the first letters of Ferz, Alfil, Dabbabah. Charles has mentioned the Templar, which lacks the ability to leap along a diagonal. My War Elephant (which can be traced all the way back to the rules of Jetan) moves to the same squares as these pieces, but never leaps. See Midgard Chess for a movement diagram and see Opulent Lemurian Shatranj for a 10x10 variant where the War Elephant is one of the weaker pieces.
