eeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrr, what happened 2 PLAYING chess?????????????????????????? this is ****!
Dear freak,
Try http://play.chessvariants.com.
its terrific. I just beat my roommate at playing chess and its your fault. thanks again
This will be excellent to help my girlfriend learnt he rules of chess. Thanks Anfernee
Thanks, brief and concise explanations. A good refresher for the rules re draws, and I couldn't remember the name of the en-passant move. Without knowing the name I couldn't convince a friend that it was genuine move!
I have a friend from Africa who is French speaking. This is perfect to show him the game. Thanks!
Thanks very much for your informative site. We were having a slight dispute regarding the queen side castling move, and your page alleviated our concerns. One point that I think should be made clearer, is the en passant rule. Given the explanation provided, new players may be under the impression that the en passant move can be made once per game, yet can be repeated using different pawns. This is not a criticism at all. This site is great for beginners through all levels of players. Thank you very much.
Although I am still rather fresh at the game, I have found your Chess instructions to be very helpful and informative, yet concise. The complementary board visuals were also a huge plus. I most definitely recommend your site to all levels of Chess participants! THANK YOU. Steven Adams, Modesto,Ca.
Thanks... i'm helping at a Cub Scout Day Camp as the chess man. These diagrams and info will be great to use for explaining to the younger kids. THANKS!
I don't understand the point of the last condition for castling. 'The King and rook must occupy the same rank (or row).' Since the first two conditions already stated that neither the King nor the rook have moved, aren't they guaranteed to be on the same row? Or am I missing something?
I believe the point of that last condition is to prevent castling with any Rooks that are created on the eighth row by Pawn promotion.
But wouldn't a promoted rook be the wrong colour?
No.

Consider the White Pawn in front of the White King. Suppose White somehow gets that Pawn to the 8th rank and promotes it to a White Rook. The 'same rank' condition prevents White from 'castling' his King with his new Rook.
Visited your site and the first impression is interesting and informative. Thank you.
