Do Knights have a choice of L-shaped path, e.g. a1-a2-a3-b3 or a1-b1-b2-b3? It seems odd to impose a restriction on Knights at all, other than for the destination square. If Knights are not blocked by pieces, why should they be blocked by tiles?
