I have redirected chessvariants.org to point here at chessvariants.com. I
am still having some troubles with making things work here.

I tried responding to a subject thread I created on chessvariants.org, but
I was unable. However, I can create new subjects and respond to them.

Or so I thought. I tried this message with a new subject, and it would not
post.

I wanted to test responding to a page, but I ran into another problem.

The footer scripts are Perl files, not PHP, and I cannot get them to work.
I have updated paths and database information, but it still conks out after
trying to open the database. I have put print lines in it to see where it
goes wrong, and it is right when it tries to open the database. I may have
to write new footers in PHP and just stick them in the footer*.html files.

In the footers for the play subdomain, pages are not being recognized as
indexed.

So I still have some things to work on.

Also, the main page now does the job of the Whats New page. I believe the
home page of a website should be its most frequented page, and in the past
it has not been. I want to change that.

Quick Markdown Guide

By default, new comments may be entered as Markdown, simple markup syntax designed to be readable and not look like markup. Comments stored as Markdown will be converted to HTML by Parsedown before displaying them. This follows the Github Flavored Markdown Spec with support for Markdown Extra. For a good overview of Markdown in general, check out the Markdown Guide. Here is a quick comparison of some commonly used Markdown with the rendered result:

Top level header: <H1>

Block quote

Second paragraph in block quote

First Paragraph of response. Italics, bold, and bold italics.

Second Paragraph after blank line. Here is some HTML code mixed in with the Markdown, and here is the same <U>HTML code</U> enclosed by backticks.

Secondary Header: <H2>

  • Unordered list item
  • Second unordered list item
  • New unordered list
    • Nested list item

Third Level header <H3>

  1. An ordered list item.
  2. A second ordered list item with the same number.
  3. A third ordered list item.
Here is some preformatted text.
This line begins with some indentation.
This begins with even more indentation.
And this line has no indentation.
