The many pieces promoting into a queen reminds me of shogi. just a suggestion but maybe it'd be better if Marshall and Cardinal promote into a Nightrider+Rook and Nightrider+Bishop pieces respectively and the knight can either promote into Scepter or Nightrider
ok, I'm just making a suggesting but you do you
wait, giraffe is used for 4,2 or 3,2 leaper? i thought it's used for 4,1 leaper
Hello, I know I'm already posting too many comments on this, I just wanna fix the game
While currently playtesting the game on Zillions, I'm thinking of ideas to try weaken the riders so that the game's more "fair" or smth
I'm thinking of making it a part-hopper, limit their range, or replace them entirely but I dunno yet, I just need ideas to weaken them
EDIT: ok, instead of "fixing" the riders, I'm going to try to update the rules
I just saw the variants and wow they're interesting
I would love to join the tournament but I sadly won't because of school
I will instead say Good Luck to the tourneys
just asking but why not the other ultima pieces in alfaerie
For RNN: Emperor since it's a very strong piece
For RpcRF: Mortar since it's a strong Cannon
For BWDD: Archbishop Cardinal or Pope since it's a strong Bishop
I dunno why but I'll name them Kyrin and Phoenix respectively
Probably because they remind me of the Chu Shogi pieces with the same name fsr
I'll just call them Gryphon and Aanca at this point
nice choices for the icons of the promoted pieces
While we're on the topic of mythical creatures, I wonder how many of them appeared in Chess Variants
I only know there's Unicorn, Dragon(?), Gryphon/Griffon, Aanca/Anqa, Kirin, and Phoenix
To Be Honest, I prefer a setup where the King Queen pair is switched with the Missionaries and the Queen is now the Amazon and vice versa
yeah it may break the Original FIDE setup but it allows the weaker pieces to develop faster without the stronger ones joining in as well which I prefer and for Castling, I would just allow the King castle with the Sailor
but that's just my preference, you do you, the current setup is good enough for me to play on and not ruin the variant for me
probably lag or glitch
Hello
I think I'm going to change pieces a bit rn
The Unicorn now moves like Bison(Camel+Zebra) instead of Gnu(Camel+Knight)
also, there are now 5 "major" pieces, the 4 being the royals and one that moves like a Squirrel(Knight+Alfil+Dabbaba) whose royal name is Sovereign
basically, you have to choose 4 of them to be the royals and then the remaining one is placed where the Zebra was(yes, the Zebra is replaced by a non royal "major" piece)
lastly, as an optional rule, you may not have the same non royal "major" piece
I'm not going to update the page for now since it's night rn
Testing Again
I'm thinking of doing this setup so the non royal major piece is like guarding the royal ones but I just realized the b and i pawns are unprotected I was thinking of switching the Man and Unicorn in this setup but I don't know yet
EDIT: I think I'm doing this setup instead even though it looks weird to me
Found These, Black and White Pieces Included
I was about to find it in the Pocket Mutation set but there's none so
Saw this in r/chessvariants recently and I just wanna ask what do you mean in this part
If a piece moves after capturing, it may not: o move along the same:
Column ( i.e. castle, king, or queen )
Row ( i.e. castle, king, or queen )
or Diagonal ( i.e. bishop, king or queen )
I'm just confused on that rule
I just wanna point out that there's no dark crocodile in the alfaerie set

I will probably replace one of the new pieces with something like Vao and make the Ox move 1 Space Diagonally personally but hey, my bad opinions. I think adding the new pieces is good anyways since it compliments the Knight and Ox.
