'Leapers' could be the initial idea, in the early Baroque game, although the 'modern' ULTIMA has accepted Long-Leapers instead of single Leapers. Other rules could have historic importance in the evolution of the game, and it has its merits, so if there are fans of these rules, it should be considered normal, as they are Shatranj fans today, by example
