My earlier test had two problems: I didn't close the object tag, and the external.html I created hadn't been saved. It worked after I fixed these problems, but now I have the problem that the text from the object cannot be styled from outside. As a first test, I enclosed the object tag with b tags for boldface, but it did not appear in boldface. For another test, I created a sans-serif class that displays text in the same font as the headers. I put this class on the paragraph in external.html, and I put it on some surrounding text. It worked for the surrounding text, but it did not work for the text from external.html.
