If I understood it correctly, the main problem with this infinite variant is the fact that it isn't actually infinite. For example, I can move my pawn from g2 to g4. And then, black may move his pawn from g39939393003 to g39939393001. The board is no longer infinite anymore. The players got 8 columns and 39939393004 rows. It is not interesting.

Unlike thousands of other variants, especially with fairy pieces, Chess On A Ridiculously Long Board is actually more understandable and playable for the public than those weird novelties, since most of the chessplayers already know the rules.

I bet that in the near future we will manage to discover the largest even prime number. Since the amount of them is actually infinite, I won't lose my hope.
