As I included Ace and Acme for compounds where the radial part is itself a compound of duals, I wondered about doing the same with the oblique part. As this is limited to the 2d pairs of duals and the single 3d pair Ninja+Nimel I could make use of the single letter unifying the forward-only pieces. As the Rook is (among other things) a bird, the Bishop a man, and the Queen a woman I suggest Rook+Gnu=HERON, Bishop+Gnu=HERO, Queen+Gnu=HEROINE. The corresponding compounds substituting Zebu for Gnu would be Seron/Sero/Seroine, those substituting Guru Beron/Bero/Beroine, and so on. What's everyone's reaction to that?
I have just noticed, the paragraph on diamond-pattern formula compounds should read as follows:
For diamond-pattern formula compounds I suggest prefixing END- to the same formula without the corners. Thus Knight+Trebuchet is the n:3-n ENDKNIGHT, Caribou+Cobbler the n:4-n ENDCARIBOU, Gamewarden+Quibbler the n:5-n ENDGAMEWARDEN (the pun inspiring the prefix!), and Swan+7:0 leaper the n:7-n ENDSWAN.
