One thing you can do is instead of rolling the dice 16 times, just roll 8 times and opponent's pawns copy yours, so if your king's rook's pawn is XCO then your opponent's king's rook's pawn will be same, the O part is unusable for both of them.

'That's Chess256' I don' see the resemblance. Chess 256 is only about where the orthodox pawns start. This game is about replacing orthodox pawns with unorthodox ones. The only similarity is the 8 random generations. I can't say that I think that this Random Pawns variant is a very good idea. Eight strange and often unsymmetrical pawns are going to make a game with very poor clarity, and some of the pawns seem intrinsically awkward or of little value.
