Confederation is interesting as derivative of Absorption Chess, the latter's origination probably 19th century but maybe earlier. Interesting for being made during 1920s by who must be German (or German american) Frank Maus, developer of all of Cavalry, Thinktank, and Allthought the same period. The 1920s also mark importantly time when Capablanca revived Bird's revisit of Carrera to compete with f.i.d.e. founding. The premier all-time variantist T.R. Dawson had just invented Grasshopper, Vao, Nightrider the previous decade.
